Summary:The writers discuss the spatial and temporal localization of brain regions associated with procedural memory in order to evaluate regional cerebral blood flow. In addition, to find the neural correlates of motor memory learning and consolidation, they conduct an imaging experiment. They contend that these studies stress the time-dependent changes that take place in the brain after initial acquisition of a motor skill, and they propose that motor memory consolidation involves different regions of the brain at different times.
