      ab: A response to a commentary by Szabolcs Kéri and Zoltán in this issue on the writers' article “Recalling word lists reveals “cognitive dysmetria” in schizophrenia: a positron emission tomography study,” which appeared in The American Journal of Psychiatry, vol. 156, 1999, pp. 386-392. They note Kéri and Janka's suggestion that the presence of hallucinating patients in their study group could account for the underactivation of the supplementary motor area. They point out however, that only 5 of their 14 patients had a clear history of auditory hallucinations and so the majority of patients in their group were not hallucinators.
