The writers note that the contemporary processes of space–time transformation and the shrinking of the globe in relation to the concept of globalization raise two important questions. One over how the space–time compression is played out unevenly across the planet; and the other concerns how space and time are experienced differently in different contexts and what this means for the ways that conceptions of time and space are arranged so that people can make sense of their surroundings. They explain that this issue is organized with these questions in mind and they introduce the articles in this special issue. |
