| Sumario: | The writer examines the development and use of management science methodologies (MSM) by the British systems community over the decades leading up to 2003, by proposing a general framework in which four paradigms are identified. He contends that the development of MSM can be understood by the following stages—problem-solving methods from 1950 to 1970; methodologies meant to improve situations from 1970 to 1980; intervention empowering emancipatory methodologies from 1980 to 1990; and multiparadigmatic or pluralistic approaches from 1990 to the present. |
