      ab: Two studies were conducted to investigate the time course of the preview benefit—the presenting of one set of distractions before the presenting of a second set of distractors and a target. Findings revealed that the preview benefit has a relatively slow time course, and that old items are discounted from searches in parallel. Moreover, parts of the parieto-occipital cortex are selectively activated during a preview search condition relative to a detection baseline.
