| Sumario: | The article discusses how historians can make use of computer programs to do text mining to examine concordances and divergences within and between documents and texts. It considers how concordances were an early source of text mining, but they were historically limited to canonical works due to the amount of time involved in creating them. Other subjects of history methodology considered include frequency analysis, the Comparator tool which allows a comparison of the different words used by two editions of the same book, and date finding software to help organize information contained in public records such as parish registers or census records.
