| Sumario: | Research has found that negative career thinking (NCT) is one factor that adversely influences career decision making (CDM). Adults involved in career exploration may not represent a homogeneous group and the nature of NCT across the adult lifespan needs to be explored. Researchers examined the relationship between Super's developmental stages and NCT. The sample included 354 male and 496 female unemployed adults from a community-based population. Results from the Career Thoughts Inventory indicate that NCT significantly varied across age cohorts. Older individuals acknowledged less generalized NCT, Decision-Making Confusion, and Commitment Anxiety. No differences in External Conflict existed between the stages.
