| Sumario: | The article explores extended reflections on the 1982 genocide of the civilians in the Sabra and Shatila camps in Beirut, Lebanon. The author examines the representation by the Kuwaiti sculptor Sami Mohammad, the French writer Jean Genet, and the American poet June Jordan of the genocide in Sabra and Shatila in an attempt to bring attention to the ways in which commemorative art and literature conceive of their role in an age of media hegemony. An account of the genocide is also presented. |
