Sumario:	The article examines the history and evolution of computer programming languages and specifically critiques the Go computer language developed by programmer Rob Pike. While there has been a focus on moving away from the parameters established by the character-encoding scheme ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange), the author urges that Pike’s language is formed to ASCII as opposed to the more recent Unicode. A history of programming languages is offered, including the development of C++ and APL.
