It focuses on the Stretch and ACS (Advanced Computer Systems) projects, which are relatively little-known episodes in the history of computer science. The Stretch project was headed by Steve Dunwell, and designed for use in nuclear weapons research. ACS was headed by Jack Bertram, and both projects benefited from the involvement of Gene Amdahl.
