Those of us who have had the honor and pleasure of working with James P. Scanlan over the past ten years cannot help but regret his departure from the editorship of this journal. It has been a remarkable decade for Russian philosophy, and Dr. Scanlan has documented it splendidly in these pages (and in the 1994 volume Russian Thought After Communism: The Recovery of a Philosophical Heritage). We will miss his erudition and good humor in equal measure, we wish him all the best, and we welcome him to the editorial board.
