Sumario:This article discusses Pierre Alferi's novel, "Le Cinéma des Familles," and explains how he stretches the boundaries of the autofiction genre. The last is defined as a piece of work that is partly true and partly made up, different from historical fiction in that it makes no attempt to confine itself to linear story telling. In his novel, Alferi reportedly goes further by applying his understanding of mécanique lyrique, which he explains is an act of defiance against traditional forms of story telling, even going so far as to make up words.
