| Sumario: | The article presents a forecast regarding the potentially paranoia-inducing effects of pervasive monitoring technology such as position-broadcasting cellphones and online tracking. Ethical concerns related to technologies such as ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence are discussed. A workshop addressing such concerns, the Ethical Guidance for Research and Application of Pervasive and Autonomous Information Technology (PAIT), is described, which featured demonstrations of such technologies, and discussion of their potential advantages and drawbacks. |
