Sumario:An essay is presented in which the authors discuss computer technology and the 1976 book "Encyclopedia of Computer Science," by Anthony Ralston. The origins of the personal computer (PC) in the mid-1970s and the appropriateness of the word "personal" to describe them are considered. The author, Larry Owens, created a database of the data in Ralston's book and the second author, Dominique Thiebaut, took the database and created a visualization for it using the MySql database management software program.
