The company was established in 1800 and was managed by several owners including Carl Friedrich Peters. When tobacco manufacturer and music patron Carl Böhme bought the firm, the first publication of the instrumental works of composer Johann Sebastian Bach was made. Edition Peters faced many difficulties during the war and the reign of the Nazi Party but managed to survive. |
