| Sumario: | The authors discuss the development and application of a computerized collection of media excerpts for use in linguistics classroom teaching at the University of Michigan. Examples from applied classroom instruction are provided including the study of language and sexuality related to voice pitch and stereotypes about homosexual men using clips from the television program "Will and Grace," African American English (AAE) studies utilizing the motion picture "Hustle & Flow," and multilingualism using the motion picture "The Original Latin Kings of Comedy." The authors also describe their particular database, offer suggestions for database creation and file storage, and offer a sample homework assignment.
