Sumario:The article focuses on the specific references to commerce in the plays, particularly the metaphorical references in the "York Cycle." It examines the metaphorical references to medieval commerce in the play, particularly the cluster of references treating God's creation of humankind, Satan's corruption of humankind, and Christ's redemption of humankind. It explores the first cluster of economic metaphors, which initiate the predominant economic metaphor of Christus Mercator and appears in the early plays treating the creation and fall of humankind. The domination of Jesus Christ's redemption in the Corpus Christi cycle and the central tenet of Christianity are also examined.
