      ab: The article focuses on brain-computer interfaces (BCIS). Their original design electrodes surgically implanted in the skull allowing paralyzed persons to control objects such as wheelchairs and computer cursors. The development of a non-invasive BCIS in which electroencephalography (EEG) is used, allowing the electrodes to rest on the scalp rather than be surgical implants, is discussed. Commercial products using the EEG technology are discussed.
