The equations are determined by probit analysis so that the dependent variable represents the probability that a person is employed a the time of the survey. The coefficients of each independent variable in the equation represent the increased probability of being employed together with a unit rise in the independent variable divided by the standard normal probability density function examined at appropriate values of the independent variables. Findings showed that overall employment differentials adjusted for individual differences and occupation are twice as large between the races within each gender as they are between the two sexes within each race.
