Sumario:The article provides information on Natalie Nash, a high school student who designed an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device for the severely disabled using an optimization algorithm. Nash developed a program to compare the efficiency of different keyboard arrangements and reduced scanning steps by arranging keyboards so that letters which commonly being words were closer to the front, using a simulated annealing algorithm.
