      ab: Aim To record and evaluate the experiences of a group of learning disability nurses at an NHS trust in England who had undertaken continuing professional development (CPD) activities through the medium of e-learning. It was intended that the study's findings and recommendations would shape the development and delivery of CPD activities for learning disability nurses at the trust. Methods A two-stage literature review was undertaken to establish a rationale for the study and to ascertain the factors on which successful e-learning depends. Subsequently, six learning disability nurses were recruited through purposive sampling and each of them was interviewed. The transcripts were analysed for themes and coded using a qualitative data analysis software package. Results All participants said that they had experience of e-learning as part of their CPD activities. In deciding to undertake these activities through e-learning, they had been influenced by their professional colleagues. Conclusion E-learning is a potentially valuable way for healthcare professionals to undertake CPD activities.
