Sumario:The author reflects on the changes made on initial teacher education (ITE) in the training of English teachers. The author contends that the British government is shifting the responsibility for ITE away from higher education institutions (HEI). She avers that an HEI-based postgraduate study helps to ensure that professional qualification continues to be academic qualification.
