| Sumario: | The article examines the quantitative and economic aspects of the decline of British wheat production that have been much neglected. The period from 1873 to 1914 was studied for the reason that it was only after 1873 that the price of wheat and other kinds of grain fell below the level to which British farmers had been accustomed through most of the nineteenth century. A demonstration of a simple method was established which should be helpful in getting information about the elasticity of supply or demand functions from time series data. |
