| Sumario: | The article discusses Romani women's practice of feminism and the social and political challenges facing Romani women. According to the author, the governments of Romania and of other European states have fostered reactionary policies and attitudes which seek to re-segregate and dehumanize Roma. It is suggested that in the face of such oppression and discrimination, it is difficult for activists to claim a central place for feminist issues that are seen as affecting only women. Details on the gendered aspects of epithets and stereotypes used against Roma are presented. Other topics include racism, domestic violence, and police violence against Romani women.
