      ab: The article discusses the role that educational innovations will allegedly play in the future, looking forward from the 2012 fall. Particular focus is given to digital technology and the Open Education movement, the latter of which the author contends will transform teaching practices and the relationship between students and faculty. An overview of the role that technology plays in student learning, including through mobile computing and cloud computing, is provided. The role that structural changes in will putatively play in education, including in providing educational opportunities and preventing educational costs from rising, is discussed.
