| Sumario: | Nicorandil, a potassium-channel activator that is used in the treatment of ischaemic heart disease, has been known to cause debilitating peristomal ulceration (Skellett et al, 2009). In this paper, Sudarsanam Raman, Yetunde Fadipe, Yvette Perston and Sharad Karandikar describe an unusual case in which a peristomal tubovillous adenoma was complicated by nicorandil-induced ulceration. Ileostomy neoplasms are rare; if they do occur, they usually occur more than 15 years after the surgical treatment of colitis or polyposis (Attanoos et al, 1995; Quah et al, 2005). |
