In this regard, although metaphor appears to be mostly used in a conventional, unconscious way, architects also use it deliberately to discuss their work in the different genres articulating architectural discourse. In short, the metaphors found in architectural discourse not only reveal ways in which architects conceptualize space, but also work as tools for communicating their work to others. My main concern in this article is to discuss how metaphor is used by architects throughout the aforementioned design stages in three different genres, namely architects' texts reflecting upon their design, scholarly articles, and architectural reviews. The discussion focuses on six texts illustrating the aforementioned genres and dealing with a single building designed by Berlin-based architect Zvi Hecker.
