| Sumario: | The article focuses on the relationship between financial development and economic growth and the institutional sources of economic growth. The author explores the question as to whether economic freedom leads to more financial development. The author discusses the different indicators of financial intermediary development in countries, including bank assets, liquid liabilities and private credit. The author concludes that on average, countries with higher levels of initial economic freedom display greater levels of financial intermediary development. |
