People who do not have a functioning corpus callosum sometimes compensate by using a technique called 'cross-cueing', which is no more than talking or gesturing to yourself. I argue that since the function of this part of the brain can be taken over by 'external' channels, there is no reason to think that there is any significance to the brain's carrying out the function.
