Sumario:The article profiles poet Major Jackson. Jackson is said to have been influenced by the period of North Philadelphia's gentrification, when Temple University has broadened its vision to include a spirit of acquisition. He relates that his path in poetry has been unconventional. Particular focus is given to his ability to bridge social gaps and his development of a cosmopolitan sensibility. The influence of an interaction with the campus guide on his life is also mentioned.
