Sumario:An essay is presented that explores the future of the sheet-music business. Particular focus is given to the 2012 publication of the book of sheet music "Song Reader," which featured 20 songs written exclusively for printed publication by the American alternative rock musician Beck. Additional topics discussed include the increasing rarity of the ability to sight-read music, how the history of printed sheet music relates to the history of printed books, and the closing of the New York City-based music store Patelson's.
