We briefly survey the key events associated to Physics studies in Cuba, with emphasis in the last 10 years. We discuss, for the case of the University of Havana, the effects on the number of students entering and finishing the career, of some new policies –like a new admission system and the teaching of the 12 year of high school at the university. We show statistics of graduate studies in Physics, and some bibliometric data on the scientific productivity of the Physics Faculty, University of Havana. Finally, we briefly discuss the main issues and challenges faced by the Physics career in Cuba nowadays.
