Sumario:The article looks at trends in computer science research in 2013. The expansion of computer science as a research field is attributed to emerging application domains and improving hardware and software. The availability of grants is considered as a reflection of the importance of funding for success of computer science research, particularly grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). The importance of funding for maintaining research momentum and researcher interest is noted. The field is expected to experience continuous and fundamental transformation.
