| Sumario: | Objective: Country athletes struggle for the Mediterranean Games in every four years. Mediterranean Games, are one of the most important intercontinental games bringing the countries to get her for sports coming after Olympic Games. As well as the organizing countries, countries participating the games should make important arrangements in order to prevent health problems of athletes. The aim of the study was to examine the structuring of the health team of countries which would be joined major sports organizations and to show the necessity of dentistry service in this structuring by giving information about health problems faced by Turkish procession participating Mediterranean Games in 2009 and also to review dentistry service within our country's health care organization. Material and Methods: During the games, oral and dental health services were given to a total of 28 (6.8%) people which were conducted in the health center of Turkish procession involving 407 general out patient services. Results: Twenty-eight oral and dental health services were given to 5 (17.8%) of the general managers, 1 of the journalists (3.5%) came with the procession and 22 (78.5%) of the athletes. Prescriptions were given to 11 (39.2%) athletes in the total with the diagnosis of 8 acute dental abscess, 2 acute pericoronitis and 1 acute gingivitis. Filling was performed in 11 (39.2%) athletes diagnosed with tooth decay by using surface filling material containing zinc oxide and zinc phosphate. Appropriate anesthesia was performed for 6 (21.4%) athletes suffered from acute pain by using 1 mL Jetocain ampule anesthetic solution which included 20 mg lidocain hydrochlorle. Appropriate prescription was given to 3 (10.7%) general managers diagnosed with acute dental abscess. Diagnosed with tooth decay, surface filling containing zinc oxide and zinc phosphate for 2 (7.1%) general managers and fallen crown cementation for 1 (3.5%) journalist were applied. Conclusion: As a result, the examination of the data presented here are believed to make managers to think about the the necessity of the dental industry while establishment of the health team in the next major sporting events. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Oyun lar sü re -sin ce Türk ka fi le si sağ lık mer ke zin de ya pı lan 407 ge nel po lik li nik hiz me ti için de, top lam 28 (%6,8) ki şi yeağız ve diş sağ lı ğı hiz me ti ve ril di. Bulgular: Türk kafilesi içinde 5 (%17,8)’i ge nel ida re ci, 1 (%3,5)’i ka fi le ilege len ga ze te ci , 22 (%78,5)’si de sporcu olmak üzere, toplam 28 kişiye ağız ve diş sağlığı hizmeti verildi. Sekizakut diş ap se si, 2 akut pe ri ko ro ni t, 1 akut jin ji vit teş hi si ile top lam 11 (%39,2) spor cu ya re çe te ve ril di. Onbir(%39,2) spor cu ya diş çü rü ğü teş hi si ile çin ko ok sit ve çin ko fos fat içe rik li yü zey dol gu ma ter ya li kul la nı la -rak dol gu ya pıl dı. Akut ağ rı sı olan 6 (%21,4) spor cu ya 20 mg li do ka in hid rok lo ril içe rik li 1 mL Je to ka in am -pül anes te zik so lüs yon kul la nı la rak uy gun anes te zi ya pıl dı. Üç (%10,7) ge nel ida re ci ye akut diş ap se si teş hi siile uy gun re çe te ve ril di. İki (%7,1) ge nel ida re ci ye diş çü rü ğü teş hi si ile çin ko ok sit ve çin ko fos fat içe rik liyü zey dol gu su, 1 (%3,5) ga ze te ci ye düş müş kron si man tas yo nu uy gu lan dı. So nuç: Bu çalışmada su nu lan verile rin ir de len me si nin, bun dan son ra ki bü yük spor tif or ga ni zas yon lar da yö ne ti ci le rin sağ lık eki bi ku rul ma -sı es na sın da, diş he kim li ği bran şı nın da ge rek li li ği ni dü şün me le rin de yar dım cı ola ca ğı dü şü nül mek te dir. |
