| Sumario: | This essay analyzes the notion of uncertainty characteristic of biological complexity, the contribution of uncertainty to the emergence of systemic perspectives in contemporary biology, and the way in which these perspectives are linked to biological determinism. The argument highlights characteristics that are acquired by concepts of causality and biological information in this context, and underlines how the study of biological determinism and indeterminism opens up a path to a broader understanding of causality. Se muestra cómo la indeterminación característica de la complejidad biológica contribuyó al surgimiento de las perspectivas sistémicas en la biología contemporánea y el modo en el que estas pueden admitir un determinismo biológico. Se mencionan algunas características que adquieren en este contexto las nociones de causalidad y de información biológica, para indicar porqué el estudio del indeterminismo y del determinismo biológico abre el camino hacia una comprensión más amplia de la causalidad. |
