There are four basic skills of the Language. These are listening, reading, speaking and writing. These skills are associated with each other and each has an effect on one another. Listening and reading are receptive skills which are important for improving comprehension. Speaking and writing are transmitter skills which are important for improving the adequacy of description. Listening is the first skill the person gets. In order to improve speaking, reading and writing, firstly listening skill should be developed. Listening is an innate skill. Listening skill is important for using effectively the other skills, such as speaking, reading and writing with the listening skill, the person progress in the womb of mother, after born in the family, educational institutions and social environments. To improve listening skill, the person, the family and educators have important roles. Although every time it is signed that the development of listening skill which forms a basis for four main Language skills studies, activities, practises and preparing educational programs that improve this skill are ignored. In this study, the importance of listening education was emphasised the relationship between listening skill and the other skills was revealed. The study is in a theoretical structure. With reviewing of literature, the relationship between listening and speaking, reading, writing skills was indicated and explained. At the the end of the study, different comments, ideas, explanation and assessments were included. Birey, başkalarının duygu ve düşüncelerini anlamak için dinleme ve okumaya, duygu ve düşüncelerini anlatmak için konuşma ve yazmaya başvurur. Dilin dört temel beceri alanı vardır. Bunlar: dinleme, okuma, konuşma ve yazmadır. Bu beceriler birbirleri ile ilişkili olup her biri bir diğeri üzerinde etkiye sahiptir. Bu becerilerden dinleme ve okuma alıcı beceriler olup anlama; konuşma ve yazma ise verici beceriler olup anlatma yeterliğini geliştirmek için önemlidir. Dinleme, bireyin ilk kazandığı beceri alanıdır. Konuşma, okuma ve yazmanın gelişebilmesi için dinleme becerisinin gelişmiş olması gerekmektedir. Dinleme, insanların doğuştan getirdiği bir beceridir. Bu beceri konuşma, okuma ve yazma gibi beceri alanlarının etkili bir şekilde kullanılması bakımından önemlidir. Dinleme eğitimiyle birey, dünyaya gelmeden önce anne karnında, dünyaya geldikten sonra ailede, eğitim kurumlarında ve sosyal çevrelerde gelişim gösterir. Dinleme becerisini geliştirmek için bireye, aileye ve eğitimcilere önemli görevler düşmektedir. Her fırsatta, temel dil becerilerinin temelini oluşturan dinleme becerisinin eğitimi vurgulanır ancak bu beceriyi geliştirecek çalışmalar, etkinlikler, uygulamalar ve eğitim-öğretim programlarının hazırlanması ihmal edilir. Bu çalışmada dinleme eğitiminin önemi belirtilmiş ve dinlemenin diğer beceri alanlarıyla ilişkisi ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışma kuramsal bir yapıdadır. İlgili alan taraması ile dinlemenin konuşma, okuma ve yazma becerileri ile ilişkileri tespit edilmiş ve açıklanmıştır.
