| Summary: | Typography in today's digital world is largely constrained and restricted to the two-dimensional plane of the computer monitor or the piece of paper. The visual and tactile qualities of the typeface have been sorely lacking in recent decades, since letterpress has become an uncommon method of printing. In this study, paper-engineering techniques are employed and pop-up structures are created in relation to various typefaces. The objective of this study is to investigate whether the pop-up structure can be used as a platform to exemplify the origins and inspirations of typefaces. The results of the study are large-scale and interactive pop-up structures. |
