Sumario:The author discusses open access (OA) publishing from an economic and social perspective, contending that OA publishing policies should be formulated so as to financially support the humanities, academic journal publishers, academic research and scientists. An overview of the history of OA publishing from the 2000s through the early 2010s is provided. The author argues the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC BY) should not be imposed on an author's work.
