Sumario:	The article discusses connections between U.S. militarism and capitalism since the end of World War II. Topics include economic aspects of the creation of the U.S. military-industrial complex, the evolution of the U.S. marketing industry as an aspect of monopoly capitalism, and domestic surveillance during the Vietnam War in relation to the U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) and its ARPANET network. The relation of financialization to data mining is noted.
