Pinter was a leading British political playwright in the 20th century. In his plays, he focused on the political situation and distinguished between power-haves and power-have nots: the oppressor and the oppressed. In the play One for the Road, he brings out the impact of power and position on people, leading to their agony. Through the course of the play, he describes different dimensions of power.
