She entered into the newspaper business after marrying her second husband Ephraim George Squier in 1857. She took up the position of editor at the newspaper "Frank Leslie's Lady's Magazine" and married publisher Frank Leslie in 1874. Also discusses her taking of Leslie's name when he died in 1880, and her ability to run his company.
