Este trabajo muestra cómo el Programa Nacional de Leche fue una expresión del intervencionismo de un Estado social revolucionario que instó al control social de los sectores populares, reconociendo la labor comunitaria de los profesionales y del pueblo. Desde archivos ministeriales, carteles de la Polla Chilena de Beneficencia y entrevistas a beneficiarias, el presente artículo explica la misión del Estado en el modelamiento de los cuerpos, el nuevo estatus de los profesionales sociales y los fundamentos de la participación comunitaria. A partir de lo anterior, se deduce que el control social permeó en distintas dimensiones de las relaciones sociales, buscando corregir el cuerpo y mente de la madre-pueblo.
