| description | Based on the microhistorical analysis of a case of homicide by a juvenile in 1939, we will focus on the functioning and particularities of the scientific practices involved in the judicial research at Santiago’s Juvenile Court between 1929 and 1942 – first administrative period of the juvenile protection system in Chile.
From a broad perspective of sciences, we will consider as scientific the four practices that were included as technical-scientific knowledge oriented towards the support of Santiago’s Juvenile Judge, Samuel Gajardo, since 1929: medicine, psychology, social service and pedagogy.
We will examine the particularities of the juvenile justice installed in Chile at the end of the 1920s and, based on the analysis of the aforementioned case, we will analyze the implications of the scientific practices in this type of cases and other similar cases investigated by this court. It should be noted that in Chile there is no research based on primary sources about the functioning of the aforementioned scientific practices in the early days of juvenile justice, for which reason this study aims to open up, albeit partially, this field of research. |

A partir del análisis microhistórico de un caso de homicidio perpetrado por un menor en 1939, se abordarán en este artículo el funcionamiento y las particularidades de las prácticas científicas involucradas en las pesquisas judiciales del Tribunal de Menores de Santiago en la comprobación de delitos, entre 1929 y 1942, primer periodo administrativo del sistema de protección de menores en Chile. Desde una perspectiva amplia de las ciencias, consideraremos como prácticas científicas aquellas cuatro que fueron incluidas como saberes técnico-científicos orientados a apoyar la labor del Juez de Menores de Santiago, Samuel Gajardo, desde 1929: medicina, psicología, servicio social y pedagogía. Se realizará un recorrido por las características de la justicia minorista de la época y, a partir del caso mencionado, se analizarán las implicancias de las prácticas científicas en este tipo de casos. Cabe destacar que no existe en Chile investigaciones basadas en fuentes primarias acerca del funcionamiento de las prácticas científicas mencionadas en los inicios de la justicia minorista, por lo cual este estudio apunta a abrir, aunque sea de manera parcial, dicho campo de investigación. Com base na análise micro-histórica de um caso de homicídio cometido por um menor em 1939, enfocaremos o funcionamento e as particularidades das práticas científicas envolvidas na investigação judicial do Juizado de Menores de Santiago entre 1929 e 1942 - primeiro período administrativo do sistema de proteção ao menor. No Chile.Numa perspectiva ampla das ciências, consideraremos como científicas as quatro práticas que foram incluídas como saberes técnico-científicos orientados para o apoio do Juiz Juvenil de Santiago, Samuel Gajardo, desde 1929: medicina, psicologia, serviço social e pedagogia.Examinaremos as particularidades da justiça juvenil instalada no Chile no final da década de 1920 e, a partir da análise do referido caso, analisaremos as implicações das práticas científicas neste tipo de casos e em outros casos semelhantes investigados por este.
