Este artículo analiza, desde una perspectiva política y regional, la construcción del Estado republicano en la región de Aconcagua a partir de sus protagonistas: los sectores dominantes. Para ello se abordó las diversas estrategias que los notables y sus clientelas emplearon para satisfacer sus intereses, como son la conformación de redes familiares, control de elecciones, justicia y milicias. Se releva que durante el período estudiado estas estrategias fueron claves en el disenso ocurrido a lo largo de la provincia, caldo de cultivo y principal causa del triunfo conservador en la región tras la guerra civil de 1829-1830.
