Este artículo estudia la influencia del gobierno del presidente argentino Raúl Alfonsín (1983-1989) en la transición en Chile. Durante su mandato se realizaron importantes esfuerzos por impulsar el proceso de democratización en Chile, apoyando a la oposición democrática y realizando gestiones diplomáticas para disminuir el accionar de grupos armados comunistas. También analizamos la lectura que realizaron los actores chilenos sobre el proceso político argentino, especialmente las lecciones que aprendieron sobre las relaciones con los militares, los derechos humanos y las reformas económicas.
