Se incorpora la perspectiva de los estudios migratorios a la investigación sobre movilidad campesina en Chile, analizando los procesos de desplazamiento y descampesinización en San Pedro de Melipilla entre 1973 y 2021. El tema se aborda desde el desplazamiento forzado de familias durante la contrarreforma agraria, hasta el abandono de tierras y formas de vida tradicionales por el campesinado en el marco del avance agroexportador. Se postula que el modelo agroexportador no sólo nace a partir de la descampesinización, sino que la reproduce, expandiéndose conforme se reduce el campesinado y se concentra la propiedad de la tierra y del agua en el empresariado del sector.
