El presente artículo explora el papel de la subjetividad en la historiografía, analizando cómo las decisiones del historiador influyen en la representación del pasado. A partir de una revisión crítica del debate en cuestión, se propone que la subjetividad del historiador, más que un obstáculo para el conocimiento histórico, es una herramienta que enriquece la comprensión del pasado y a la misma disciplina. Se habla así de una historiografía autorreflexiva y comprometida, la que reconozca la dimensión humana del acto historiográfico, particularmente de cara a eventos traumáticos y experiencias marginalizadas.
