      ab: Praxis orientation is an internationally acknowledged principle for the education of health professionals. With regard to nursing, a nursing theory should serve as a framework for the design of curricula. The combination of both ideas has been tested in a training program for older persons' care in Cairo. The result was a problem-based curriculum with learning fields arranged according to the basic human needs. The stepwise development of this curriculum as well as its final shape is described in the following. Designing curricula is an interplay of didactics and nursing theory.
