| Sumario: | Carcinomas on ileostomies have been reported in patients who have undergone colectomy for ulcerative colitis, familial adenomatous polyposis and Crohn's disease. Colostomy carcinomas are relatively rare, with only ten cases reported worldwide. This article describes two cases that we have recently seen and highlights the challenges, such as diagnosis, extent of excision, closure of defects, and siting of further stoma. In both cases, the presentation was to a specialist nurse-led clinic. Lesions around a stoma are relatively common and specialist nurses need to be aware of the possibility of cancer on a colostomy or ileostomy.
