| Sumario: | E-Learning and blended Learning, educational programmes based on a structured involvement of electronic media will form main aspects of future learning strategies not only at the university level but also in the field of vocational training. E-learning offers an independency from time and location, flexibility and a wide choice of programmes in an international market. In many European countries, e-learning competency is a crucial part of the training portfolio in nursing. In German nursing schools e-learning and blended learning is not well established yet due to the lack of proper didactical approaches and user-friendly learning platforms. This was the basic approach for the LEONARDO DA VINCI-pilot project 'e-learning-assistant' aiming for the development of didactical and technical pro-ducts for a Europe-wide use in nursing education. The project team of fourteen partner institutions from seven European countries have developed a compact modular system based on a new didactical situation-based approach. It provides online-teacher training, nursing modules and tools for the development and implementation of blended Learning units. The evaluation of the project elucidated deficits in knowledge and practice with a need for training of partners from nursing schools, in particular from Germany, while European partners from academic settings in Belgium, Finland or the Czech Republic are acquainted with e-learning and blended learning strategies. The products developed within the project are a first step towards a modular nursing education based on a blended leaning structure.
